Who we are:

Conquering Columbus is a brand for those across Central Ohio who are determined to find a way to align their skills, values, and talents in order to make a lasting and long impact during their lifetime on the city of Columbus. With a podcast as our medium, we research and interview those across Columbus, and at times abroad, who have achieved success in areas ranging from business and athletics, to medicine and beyond.

Our Goals:

The goals of the Conquering Columbus podcast is to document these individuals stories – from how they got to where they are today, to gaining a better insight into who they are and how they think – and provide our listening base in the city with valuable content to apply to their own lives. We have long term hopes that the podcast will become a central hub for all things extraordinary in Columbus, ultimately inspiring those across the city and connecting dots that otherwise may have been left unconnected for the worse.

Our Team:

Mike Manuche

Mike here to let you know a little more about me and why I am a part of the show. I’ve always been fascinated by successful individuals and how they got to where they are, in the hopes of emulating them and finding a way to bring out the best in myself. I walked on to the Ohio State wrestling team in 2011, coming to Columbus from San Diego, CA. Often, I am asked why someone would leave a place as beautiful as Southern California to come to the midwest for school, and then decide to stay in Columbus after finishing my degree. The simple answer is the people. I knew that, although it would be uncomfortable and much more difficult than going to UC Santa Barbara, I would be the best version of myself coming to Ohio State to train with the Buckeyes. While staying in California would have been the comfortable decision, the chance to live and train with some of the best athletes in the world was too good to pass up.

Today, I work in the business world instead of on the mat. Conquering Columbus was started for the same reason I came to Ohio State to wrestle: to learn from the best. We hope to bring the stories and experiences of our guests to our listeners so we can all understand what it takes to reach our potential.

My hope is that this podcast provides you with value. If what we cover on the show helps anyone reach their goals, then all the time, money, and effort we have put into it was worth it. Thanks for listening, and together we will make Columbus even greater than it is today.

Josh Whitt

I grew up idolizing, and trying to mimic, everyone that I came into contact with that was achieving above and beyond results in their life. I was captivated by the level of self-confidence and the aura these people gave off when they walked in a room.

This eventually lead me to The Ohio State University, where I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in theoretical mathematics and was fortunate enough to be a member, Academic All Big-Ten, and a varsity letter winner on the Men’s Varsity Wrestling Team.

As a walk-on to the wrestling team at Ohio State I learned that a lot of things are possible with hard-work. After spending 4 years on that team – around some of the greatest individuals this world has to offer – I learned that anything is possible when combining this hard work with the right group of people.

Today I’m passionate about learning from others and trying to leave a significant mark on the world. I enjoy hearing the backgrounds and lessons from those that have gone before me and picking apart how they got to where they are today.

I work full-time at a company called Facilities Management eXpress (FMX), while also pursuing my MBA in Finance and Entrepreneurship at the University of Michigan and helping run the Conquering Columbus Podcast with Mike and Joe!

Joe Grandominico

Who doesn’t love the idea of creating something great, and leaving a legacy behind? I’m obsessed with making my own mark on the business world, and empowering others to do the same.

Like Mike & Josh, I’m an alumni of The Ohio State University’s (tOSU) Varsity Wrestling team, and earned the honors of being a three-time Varsity Letter winner and Academic All American while competing. While at tOSU, I also graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Business Administration, specialization in Management Information Systems, and a minor in Spanish for Business.

Since graduating, I have been putting all of my talent into a professional career at Owens Corning (OC) where I have played a slew of IT roles (from IS Security to Supply Chain Support), and now work on within our Strategic Marketing Team as an internal consultant. I love the culture of OC, and really appreciate the benefits of working for a Fortune 500 company that focuses on people over profits.

I’m your Web Master here at Conquering Columbus, and I also contribute strategy advice to our team. I absolutely love the message we are getting out to the people, and the speed in which we are doing so.

What will your legacy be?
